Albums You Must Hear Now! #1

20131002-235838.jpg

I’m trying to expand my blog into more media items as well as interviews and that’s where I can up with Albums You Must Hear Now! Enjoy!

Artist – Bloc Party

Album – Silent Alarm

Genre – Indie Rock

For Fans Of – The Cure, We Are Scientists, The Futureheads.

My Opinion –

I think this album is so good because it has a truly unique sound and you can play it over and over and not get bored with it. You can relate to some of the lyrics and it’s a nice break from what they play on Radio 1 and awful stations like that.

You can buy the album on Amazon here:

Matthew Pritchard Interview

20130918-220237.jpg

Matthew Pritchard is one of the four stuntmen on MTV’s show Dirty Sanchez, a show that has four seasons and one movie out. He is also a pro skateboarder and he is also the first Welsh skater to ever go pro.

Here is Matthew talking about how you should follow what you want to do in life for the BBC.

YJ: First off as a long term Cardiff City supporter what was you reaction when they got promoted?

Matthew: Well as you can imagine I was over the moon. Although I do believe the Championship is the best league to be in but for obvious reasons its good that we have Cardiff in the Prem and of course 2 Welsh teams which is great for Welsh football.

YJ: Yeah as a Cardiff Supporter I was also delighted, Do you ever think that the Sanchez crew will reunite to film something for TV or has that ship sailed?

Matthew: Who knows, time will tell that one or if anyone in TV/film world are interested in investing in us. For the time being we are all doing our own thing.

YJ: What was the most painful stunt you’ve ever done?

Matthew: I Drilled right through my hand and spent eight days in hospital with septicaemia.

YJ: Nasty, Have you still got the ‘I love Johnny Knoxville’ tattoo on your leg from Russia?

Matthew: I certainly have and I won’t be getting rid of it either.

YJ: When’s the last time you saw Mykel Hawke?

Matthew: A very long time ago, he’s currently on the discovery channel filming a show with his wife.

YJ: Do you have any big plans for the next five years?

Matthew: I do but I’m keeping it under wraps. I will still be training and entering my Ironmen competitions, running marathons etc. I’ve always wanted to run the length of America so hopefully do that soon too.

YJ: Ok, finally do you have any advice for aspiring skateboarders?

Matthew: Skate because you enjoy it not because you see the sponsorship and the money that is involved now.

YJ: Thanks a lot Matthew.

Matthew: No probs boyo, bluebirds!

Once A Fort Night Story – #2 – It’s Just A Game

Hello, Welcome Back to Once A Fort Night Story I’m sorry it’s late.

Today I’m giving my opinion on this story:

http://bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-24127999

I didn’t really know how to start this opinion so I’m summing it up in a single word: Crazy.

I think it’s crazy that somebody would try to kill somebody over a game which costs around £50. I mean its a game, it’s not even real. I have nothing against people who enjoy their Playstation, Xbox, Wii etc. games because they can be pretty fun but there is a limit to how far you will go for a game. I don’t really get why people would queue up at midnight to buy it from a store when you could buy it online in advance for the same price. The only difference would be you get it nine hours later and you actually sleep that night rather than being up on your new game till five o’clock then being tired for school/work etc.

I laughed at the absurdity of this story, not the fact that a man got stabbed, beaten and robbed because that’s not good but at the fact that someone out there would actually hurt someone to play a game where you can hurt as many virtual people as you please. The man out there is not a smart man and he deserves to spend a long time in prison.

I wish the victim a speedy recovery.

Rich Fulcher Interview

YJ: Do you ever plan to make another series of Snuff Box or has the show fulfilled its journey?

Rich Fulcher: We tried to sell the show again in the states but I think it was considered too risque. Adult Swim, however, wanted me and Matt to write a pilot on our own skewed version of Sherlock and Watson which we really like but as happens often in this industry the person who championed us at the network left and the new guy wasn’t into it. I would work with Matt again at the drop of a hat, or a box.

YJ: It’s a shame that didn’t work out. Will you be going to ‘Festival Supreme’ with the Mighty Boosh live in October?

Rich Fulcher: Yes. Unfortunately, I will not get to rehearse with the Boosh Boys until L.A, as I’m out here for a bit. But I hope to do something fun in it like wear a giant diaper or run around covered in pickles.

YJ: Sounds Good. Do you still keep in touch with the cast?

Rich Fulcher: I just recently moved back to L.A. but while I was in London, we all lived less than a mile from each other and hung out . We are always in touch unless we are not in touch.

YJ: (Laughs) Do you have any influences in comedy?

Rich Fulcher: It’s always changing but when I was growing up it was Steve Martin and Monty Python. I loved Mitch Hedburg and Andy Kindler and Tig Notaro and am always on the lookout for new comics like Kumail Nanjiani and Hannibal Buress.

YJ: You went to Edinburgh in 2010 for your act An Evening With Eleanor The Tour Whore, Do you ever think of writing a new comedy script from time to time?

Rich Fulcher: I have done 9 Edinburgh Fests in total and have written 4 one-person shows. I was thinking of doing them all in one week somewhere as a goof but would also love to tour my latest show, ‘Tiny Acts of Rebellion’ (based on the book) in the state of South Dakota.

YJ: What made you want to become a comedian?

Rich Fulcher: I guess you could say it was because my Dad was in the Air Force so I’d have to change schools about every two years and I used comedy to be accepted in new places. I was either very extroverted or didn’t say anything but I loved to make people
laugh and get a reaction.

YJ: Do you have any big plans for the future?

Rich Fulcher: Other than watch all the old episodes of The Price is Right, I’m hoping to develop a half-hour standup special for television as well as get ‘Tiny Acts of Rebellion’ as a TV if someone would just buy it. Please? I’ll even take bad checks. I’ve also written a pilot for IFC with UCB’s Matt Besser about a restaurant that turns into a cult.

YJ: Quite an original idea you have there. Do you have any advice for aspiring comedians?

Rich Fulcher: The best thing you can do is do. If you are into sketches, do
sketches; improv, take classes; standup , do standup. I know
it sounds simple, but too many people talk about doing comedy,
but never really get around to it.

I would like to thank Rich Fulcher for his time and for making me laugh since Bob Fossil. Thanks Rich.

Once A Fort Night Story – #1 – Witchcraft

In some places of the world you can literally go back in time. Lets go back to the 16th Century where this would be a regular event:

http://washingtontimes.com/news/2013/jun/10/teacher-publicly-tortured-beheaded-witchcraft-papu/

There is only one problem. This was in 2013 an age where a cure for AIDS is on the horizon, where over 6 billion people have access to a phone and where people’s life expectancy is considerably higher than 30. Only for Papa New Guinea witchcraft is still at large, cannibalism is a common event and the capital of the country Port Moresby is a dangerous no go zone when the sun goes down. The woman teacher had simply tried to give the children of this dangerous country an education and this was the repayment she got. I don’t stand up for the people who murdered her because it was horrendous and wrong. But do they know any better than we did back when we supported witchcraft? Someone needs to step in and take this country to the present and fast in order to stop these mindless killings.
